Marine Consultancy & Project Management

With over 20 years of experience in yacht refit consultancy & boat building project management, Falmouth Marine Surveys offers a specialised service designed to assist owners in navigating the complexities of repairing or refitting their vessels. We recognise that such endeavours can be a substantial investment, & our role as consultants is to offer expert guidance on how to optimise spending and make informed decisions throughout the project. We are there from the start of the refit, right through to the end, conducting preliminary tests, overseeing careful dismantlement & helping clients navigate the decision-making process, particularly when budget or time are added constraints.

Whether it involves choosing the most sensible approach to a refit or selecting subcontractors with the right expertise, our consultancy service aims to streamline the decision-making process. By leveraging our extensive background in yacht refitting projects, clients benefit from strategic insights that not only contribute to the success of the refit but also enhance the overall value & longevity of their vessels.

Osmosis Treatment

Our Osmosis Treatment Service offers a range of solutions tailored to your budget & timescale, beginning with an initial assessment of moisture levels in the GRP hull. Following this, we carefully monitor the drying process before providing informed recommendations on the application of new coatings of modern products available on the market from manufacturers such as International Gelshield 200, Hempel High Protect II or Coppercoat.

This approach ensures the treatment aligns with the specific requirements of the job in hand to facilitate an effective & lasting solution. By combining our expertise in moisture level assessments, drying procedures & re-coating applications, our service aims to bring your GRP yacht hull back to an optimal condition while prioritising resistance against future moisture ingress.

Sea Trials

We offer professional sea trials as part of our comprehensive marine inspection services at Falmouth Marine Surveys. A sea trial involves taking the vessel out onto the water to observe & assess its performance under genuine operating conditions. This includes testing the engine under load, evaluating steering & handling, monitoring cooling & exhaust systems, & assessing gearbox function & propulsion efficiency. Sailing yacht rigs & sails are tested under wind load to ensure all systems are functioning correctly & safely.

Sea trials provide critical insight that cannot be gathered during a static inspection or haul-out. They are especially useful when buying a boat, following major repairs, or after an extended period of lay-up.

All sea trials are conducted by a qualified yacht surveyor with a detailed understanding of both power & sail vessels. This service helps ensure your boat or yacht performs safely & reliably once back on the water.
